Why UNO?
The University of Nebraska at Omaha has had a presence on Offutt Air Force Base since 1950. In that time we have been working to increase undergraduate education opportunities for active duty, retired military, and dependents. Our partnership with the military was a cornerstone in the creation of the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree program. That's why the BGS program is a perfect fit for the military and their families.
Servicemembers Opportunity College
Because of its efforts to serve the educational needs of servicemembers and their families, UNO has been designated a Servicemembers Opportunity Consortium (SOC) college. As a member of SOC, UNO has committed itself to fully support and comply with SOC Principles and Criteria. Through this commitment UNO ensures that:
- Servicemembers and their families share in educational opportunities available to other citizens.
- Servicemembers and their families are provided with appropriately accredited educational programs, courses, and services.
- Flexibility of programs and procedures particularly in admissions, advising, credit transfer, course articulations, recognition of nontraditional learning experiences, scheduling, course format, and residency requirements are provided to enhance access to servicemembers and their families.
Have you served in the military? If so, you may be eligible for 10 credit
hours toward a BGS degree just for your military experience. |
